Act 32
What is Act 32? How is it going to affect you?  Pennsylvania's Act 32 ws signed into law by Governor Rendell on July 2, 2008, and it consolidates the collection of lcoal income taxes and imposes several new withholding requirements on the Pennsylvania employers.  On Janualy 1, 2012, Pennsylvania employers will be required to obtain certificate of residency forms from all employees and withold local earned income taxes from their paychecks.  Under this act, employers are required to withold the greater of the employees' resident tax or nonresident tax of the furisdiction in which the work place is located and remit the withheld taxes to the jurisdiction where the employers workplace is lcoated.  There is a provision known as the Wal-Mart exception.  This provision provides that if an employee has more than one place of employment in more than one tax collection district, the employer may file the retun and pay the total amount of inocme taxes deducted from employees in all work locations to the tax officer for either the tax collection district in which the employer's payroll oepration are located oar a determined by Pennsylvania Department of Revenue.

In Butler County,  a committee was formed which consisted of delegates for the policital subdivsion as well as the school districts.  This committee known as the Butler County Tax Collection Committee (BCTCC).  The BCTCC solicited quotes for the collection of earned income tax in Butler County and awarded the contract to Berkheimer Tax Associates.

The Muddy Creek Township Policitical Subdivision Code is 100605.  All residents and employers in Muddy Creek Township should know this code to ensure the taxes are remitted to Muddy Creek Township.

RECYCLE NEWS:
Nationwide Free Computer Recycling:  Dell and Goodwill have partnered to create the Dell Reconnect Program.  Site where computer equipment is accepted in Butler County:  Goodwill in Butler (370 New Castle Road) and Goodwill in Cranberry: 20668 Perry Highway North.

Medication Collection:  The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has scheduled another National Prescription Drug Take Back Day which will take place on Saturday, April 28, 2012 from 10 AM to 2 PM.  A listing of sites for Butler County will be available by March at the following web sites:   www.dea.gov and www.recyclebutler.us.
